A publication as exhibition, which acted as a platform for practitioners to intervene on the Biennale model of exhibition making and curatorial authorship.
project BIENNALE is a critical investigation into the peripheral activities that extend and support the experience of the phenomenon that is biennale culture. The review is a staging of a series of encounters that explore and develop the experiential nature of the supplementary events surrounding the contemporary art biennale.
Central to the project is a collaborative publication containing contributions by MA curating cohort from Chelsea College of Art & Design, University of Essex, and Sheffield Hallam University, plus invited curators from around the UK. The publication is an anthology of writing and visual projects that reflect on current issues surrounding international biennale exhibitions and was launched at the Venice Biennale on 4th June. The event was part of the UK contribution to the world’s premier contemporary arts festival.
project BIENNALE was a 3 part process.
